The tanker, during the period of the oil embargo and the price cap policy on russian crude oil and petroleum products, is involved in the export of russian crude oil from russian ports in the pacific region to the PRC.
In March and November 2025, the vessel exported russian ESPO crude oil from the port of Kozmino to the PRC in the interests of PJSC Oil Company Rosneft.
In December 2025, the tanker exported russian ESPO crude oil from the port of Kozmino to the PRC in the interests of Redwood Global Supply FZ-LLC (UAE), which was sanctioned by the UK on December 18, 2025, for activities in the energy sector of the russian economy. Redwood Global Supply FZ-LLC is the largest exporter of russian crude oil within the shadow network of russian oil traders—the "2Rivers Group" (Coral Energy). Key roles in this network are played by several azerbaijani traders: Tahir Garayev, Etibar Eyyub, Talat Safarov, and Ahmed Kerimov.
The vessel is owned by Krymsk Shipping Inc., which is affiliated with Sovcomflot PJSC. Sovcomflot is russia’s largest state-owned shipping company, which provides services and support for offshore hydrocarbon production and the transportation of russian oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas. The main charterers of PJSC Sovcomflot’s vessels are russia’s largest oil and gas companies and traders. PJSC Sovcomflot participates in servicing major oil and gas projects in russia: Sakhalin-1, Sakhalin-2, Varandey, Prirazlomnoye, Novy Port, Yamal LNG, and others.
The tanker is managed by the russian company Invest Flot LLC, established in December 2023. Invest Flot LLC is managed by the russian company SCF Arktiсa LLC—a subsidiary of Sovcomflot PJSC.
In February 2024, the United States imposed sanctions on 14 vessels affiliated with the sanctioned company PJSC "Sovcomflot," including the tanker IMO 9270529.
In June and October 2024, the EU and Switzerland, respectively, imposed sanctions on the vessel.
In June 2025, Canada imposed sanctions on the tanker.
On July 21, 2025, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on the vessel.
Since December 13, 2025, Ukraine has imposed sanctions on the vessel.
