Systematically supports and justifies the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea by russia, putin's policy and the kremlin regime.
Together with his wife, propagandist Olga Skabeeva, he hosts the socio-political talk show "60 Minutes" on the TV channel "russia", which belongs to the network of the All-russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. In his TV show, he manipulates socially significant information, systematically spreads typical narratives of kremlin propaganda, fakes and disinformation about Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, discredits the Ukrainian government, resorts to nuclear blackmail and threats to NATO member countries.
In his Telegram channel, he regularly covers the chronicle of russia's war against Ukraine in favor of the russian government, provides information support to other pro-russian and propaganda channels, and systematically publishes loyal posts about putin and his policy in general.
In August 2024, he recorded a large complimentary interview with the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, for the rossiya TV channel, in which russia's war against Ukraine was discussed and threats of "escalation that will end in the destruction of Ukraine" were made. Such statements by Lukashenko were defined by Popov as "a very businesslike approach and a balanced position".
He also glorifies the russian military and popularizes representatives of russian armed forces on his own social networks, in particular, in August 2024 he published an interview with Lieutenant Colonel Yevgeny Poddubny and a report with the participation of the commander of the Akhmat unit, Apta Alaudinov. Also in December 2024, he published a post in which he expressed respect for the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection troops of the russian Armed Forces, Igor Kirillov.
He systematically gives interviews and participates in broadcasts and reports of foreign media, in which he actively uses pro-government anti-Ukrainian rhetoric.In December 2024, she took part in the leading russian New Year's television show "Goluboy ogonyok" on the VGTRK channel featured as invited guests military personnel of the russian armed forces who are or have been involved in the war against Ukraine. During the concert, these servicemen were honored by the hosts and participants, given the opportunity to make "military-patriotic" speeches and send greetings to their "colleagues" from the front.
As part of his parliamentary activities, he voted for the occupation of part of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine in February 2022.
