The lead vessel of a series of Panamax shuttle tankers of enhanced ice class designed for sea transportation of oil from Arctic fields without icebreaker escort. It was built to transport oil from the Varandey terminal in the Pechora Sea to the port of Murmansk. The vessel also makes calls to the Prirazlomnoye platform in the Pechora Sea. After the sanctions were imposed, PJSC Sovcomflot transferred dozens of vessels to the ownership of companies it had set up, including in foreign jurisdictions, in order to circumvent them, and started the practice of constantly 'juggling' (transferring) vessels to related companies. Tankers 're-registered' by PJSC Sovcomflot to related companies continue to transport russian crude oil/oil products under Western sanctions.
