The tanker belongs to the fleet of Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker LLC, a subsidiary of the sanctioned russian company PJSC Gazprom Neft, and is designed to operate in the seaports of the Black Sea region: Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Kavkaz, Temryuk, Taman and Sochi. The vessel's navigation area is unlimited, and its ice class allows it to operate in winter in ports that freeze.
Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker LLC is the operator of Gazprom Neft's bunker business, providing year-round supplies of marine fuels and lubricants for sea and river transport in the largest ports of the Northwest, Black Sea and Far East regions, as well as in the Arctic and inland waterways.

The VLCC-class floating oil storage facility with a deadweight of 300,259 thousand metric tons is part of the offshore transshipment complex in the Kola Bay. The UMBA FSO is considered a key element of the russian Arctic oil export chain and was created for transshipment of oil from Arctic fields by Gazprom Neft. The tanker is owned and operated by the russian sanctioned company RPK Nord LLC (Murmansk).

Panamax tanker of Arc6 ice class with deadweight of 69,000 tons in January 2025 is transferred by the sub-sanctioned shipyard Zvezda to the sub-sanctioned JSC Rosnefteflot for oil transportation from Varandey raid loading complex in the Pechora Sea to Murmansk transport hub.

The lead vessel of a series of Panamax shuttle tankers of enhanced ice class designed for sea transportation of oil from Arctic fields without icebreaker escort. It was built to transport oil from the Varandey terminal in the Pechora Sea to the port of Murmansk. The vessel also makes calls to the Prirazlomnoye platform in the Pechora Sea. The development of the Prirazlomnoye Arctic offshore oil field is carried out by sanctioned Gazprom Neft Shelf LLC (a 100% subsidiary of Gazprom Neft), which is the center for managing Gazprom Neft's offshore projects.

Since September 2024, the commercial manager of the tanker has been the Turkish company Golden Gate Ship Management Ltd, and since October 2024, the ISM manager has been the Turkish company Pier Denizcilik Ve Ticaret Ltd. These Turkish companies manage another tanker AKAR WEST (IMO 9258167), affiliated through the sanctioned companies SCF Management Services Cyprus (Cyprus), Sun Ship Management (UAE), Oil Tankers SCF MGMT FZCO (UAE), Fornax Ship Management FZCO (UAE) with PJSC Sovcomflot.
After the sanctions were imposed, PJSC Sovcomflot transferred dozens of vessels to the ownership of companies it had set up, including in foreign jurisdictions, in order to circumvent them, and started the practice of constantly 'juggling' (transferring) vessels to related companies. Tankers 're-registered' by PJSC Sovcomflot to related companies continue to transport russian crude oil/oil products under Western sanctions.

As of February 14, 2025, the fleet of Thunder Shipmanagement LLC-FZ consists of 21 oil tankers affiliated with the sanctioned PJSC Sovcomflot. The company's fleet includes sanctioned oil tankers, in particular ІМО 9309576, ІМО 9322968, ІМО 9309588, ІМО 9292060, ІМО 9292058, ІМО 9292034, ІМО 9276028, ІМО 9329655, ІМО 9577094 and others.
