Justification
Vessel information
During the enforcement of the G7 and EU embargo and price cap on russian oil and petroleum products, the tanker GEA has been actively engaged – including in 2025 – in the export of russian-origin oil and petroleum products, primarily from the russian port of Novorossiysk. The vessel has also routinely disabled its Automatic Identification System (AIS) while operating in the Black Sea near russian ports.
In January 2023, GEA transported over 29,000 metric tons of russian petroleum products from the russian port of Tuapse to Greece. The Tuapse production facility includes a refinery and maritime terminal owned by the designated russian entity PJSC "NK "Rosneft" (ПАО "НК "Роснефть"). The consignor of the cargo was PJSC "NK "Rosneft", and the consignee was Bellatrix Energy Limited (Hong Kong), also a designated entity.
In February 2023, the same cargo was transferred via ship-to-ship (STS) operation from GEA to tanker IMO 9328170 in waters near Greece. The receiving vessel is affiliated with the designated UAE-based company Fractal Marine DMCC, one of the leading operators of the so-called russian shadow fleet in 2022–2023.
