It is property by the sanctioned russian company Eco Shipping LLC, which carries out shipping and water transportation related to the construction of infrastructure facilities in the Arctic zone of the russian federation, including for the Arctic LNG-2 project of the sanctioned company Novatek for the extraction of natural gas and the production of liquefied natural gas on the Gidan Peninsula.
In May 2024, USA imposed sanctions on the company's vessels, including "Mys Shmidta".
