The vessel is owned by the sanctioned Russian company OOO "Eco Shipping," which provides shipping and water transportation services related to the construction of infrastructure facilities in the Arctic region of the Russian Federation, including for the "Arctic LNG-2" project of the sanctioned company PJSC "Novatek," which involves natural gas extraction and the production of liquefied natural gas on the Gydan Peninsula.
In May 2024, the United States imposed sanctions on the company’s vessels, including the vessel with IMO number 9243801.
