The vessel is affiliated with the sanctioned russian company Sakhalin Shipping Company PJSC, one of the largest russian shipping companies in the Far East, which is among the top 100 largest maritime container carriers in the world, is one of the leaders in terms of coastal shipping volume, and an important link in export-import traffic with countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The company is part of the Delo group of companies (affiliated with the state corporation Rosatom), 58.67% of its shares are owned by TransContainer, which is subject to sanctions and is russia's largest railway container operator providing a full range of transport and logistics services in integration with other assets of the Delo group of companies.
The vessels of PJSC Sakhalin Shipping Company are involved in the development of future large-scale russian energy facilities, the delivery of relevant construction materials and equipment by sea to the Taymyr Peninsula, and expanding russia's trade routes to new foreign jurisdictions to replace the economic ties lost after russia's invasion of Ukraine.
In July 2023, the US imposed sanctions on 14 vessels, including IMO 9159921.
In June 2026, Canada imposed sanctions on the vessel.
