The tanker, during the period of the G7 and EU oil embargo and the price cap policy on russian crude oil and petroleum products, has been involved in the export of russian crude oil and petroleum products from russian ports in the Pacific region, in particular to the PRC.
The vessel has also been involved in the transport of iranian crude oil and petroleum products.
The vessel is affiliated with the sanctioned company Al-Qatirji, which is involved in the export of millions of barrels of Iranian crude oil to Syria and East Asia, including the PRC, for the purpose of financing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force. Al-Qatirji uses a fleet of oil tankers, including the vessel IMO 9305609, to export Iranian oil and petroleum products.
On November 14, 2024, the United States imposed sanctions on the tanker.
On December 13, 2025, Ukraine imposed sanctions on the vessel.
