He holds the position of a researcher at the Field Research Department of the Institute of Archaeology of the russian Academy of Sciences (IA RAS), an organisation sanctioned in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 12.05.2023 No. 280/2023. In accordance with his official duties, he participates in the consideration of all requests received by the IA RAS for a permit (open letter) to conduct archaeological work, which have been previously checked by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the russian federation. Between 2014 and 2023, the head of its department, O. Maslennikov, approved 1359 permits (open letters) for illegal archaeological work in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
