Description of the incident location
The Gavdzynskyi Art Gallery was founded on November 4, 1967 as an art department of the Kherson Museum of Local Lore. On March 21, 2002, the Novokakhovka City Art Gallery (as an independent museum institution) was established on the basis of the property of the Novokakhovka Department of the Kherson Regional Art Museum named after O.O. Shovkunenko. The art collections included more than 1200 exhibits, including a unique collection of 297 paintings and drawings by A.S. Havdzynskyi, a collection of etchings by People's Artist of Ukraine V.F. Myronenko, a collection of illustrations by People's Artist of Ukraine V.H. Lytvynenko, and many others.
On November 1, 2022, the news came from the temporarily occupied Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region, that the occupiers were massively removing art collections from the art gallery: works of painting, graphics, and sculpture. In 2024, in the capital of the russian federation, the occupiers opened an exhibition of works by Ukrainian artist Albin Gavdzinsky "Always New Kakhovka" in the Moscow office of the Transneft corporation, which is controlled by the Russian government. The exhibition was opened by the head of the occupation administration of the Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, and the "representative of the region to the russian government" Volodymyr Bodelan.
