Apatit JSC is a producer of phosphorus-containing mineral fertilizers, phosphoric and sulfuric acids, aluminum fluoride, ammonia, urea, ammonium nitrate, and fertilizers based on it. Apatit JSC is not just a "fertilizer plant"; it is a plant that produces over 4.5 million tons of sulfuric acid per year (one of the highest figures in russia). The products manufactured by the plant are a critically important component for the production of industrial explosives and gunpowder by the russian defense industry.

The vessel is designed for transportation of general and bulk cargoes, bundled lumber, round timber, scrap metal, metal in bundles and coils, bulky, large, long and heavy cargo, coal, dangerous goods and category "B" cargo (project № RSD59).

In April 2023, the vessel was sanctioned by USA due to its ties to the sanctioned russian state-owned company JSC GTLK.
JSC GTLK specializes in air, sea, rail, passenger transportation, automotive, special equipment for russian companies in the transport industry, investment activities for the development of the transport infrastructure of russia, controlled by the ministry of transport of russian federation. The CEO of JSC GTLK is a sanctioned Ditrikh Yevgeniy Ivanovich.
The owner and manager of the vessel is a russian company Alpha LLC (TIN 6164106688), affiliated with GTLK, specializing in wholesale of liquid, solid, gaseous fuels, wholesale of grain, and maritime cargo transport activities.
On November 25, 2025, Ukraine imposed sanctions on the vessel.

The vessel is designed for transportation of general and bulk cargoes, bundled lumber, round timber, scrap metal, metal in bundles and coils, bulky, large, long and heavy cargo, coal, dangerous goods and category "B" cargo (project № RSD59).
The vessel calls at the ports of the TOT of Ukraine; in 2024-2025, the vessel shipped more than 5,000 tons of coking coal from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian port of Mariupol.
The vessel is involved in schemes of stealing Ukrainian grain from the TOT of Ukraine. In particular, in November 2024 and May 2025, the vessel transported wheat from the temporarily occupied port of Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region.
In April 2023, the vessel was sanctioned by USA due to its ties to the sanctioned russian state-owned company JSC GTLK. The vessel is involved in the transportation of Ukrainian grain (wheat) from the temporarily occupied port of Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region, in March, April, and May 2025.
The owner and manager of the vessel is a russian company LLC "Alpha" (TIN 6164106688), which specializes in cargo transportation by inland waterways and international sea routes of oversized, long, bulky, heavy cargo from the Mediterranean, Black Sea to the Caspian direction, container board, sawn timber, round timber, steel scrap, metal products, coal, coke, bulk iron, iron ore, steel pipes, grain crops, fodder etc.
Alpha LLC is affiliated with a sanctioned russian company JSC GTLK (TIN 7720261827) - the largest leasing company of aviation, water, railway and city passenger transport in russia, which is included in the list of backbone organizations of the russian economy and controlled by the russian ministry of transport.
In April 2023, USA imposed sanctions on vessels (including the vessel IMO 9922122) related to GTLК and its CEO Ditrikh Yevgeniy Ivanovich.
On November 25, 2025, Ukraine imposed sanctions on the vessel.

Alpha LLC is affiliated with the sanctioned russian company JSC GTLK (TIN 7720261827), the largest leasing company of aviation, water, railway, urban passenger transport in russia, which is included in the list of systemically important organizations of the russian economy and controlled by the ministry of transport of the russian federation.
In April 2023, USA imposed sanctions on vessels (including ІМО 9922134) associated with GTLК and its CEO, Ditrikh Yevgeniy Ivanovich.
The vessel calls at the ports of the TOT of Crimea in 2024 and 2025.
In 2025, the vessel is involved in grain theft schemes from the TOT of Ukraine, in particular from the temporarily occupied port of Berdiansk in Zaporizhzhia region.

The vessel is designed for the carriage of general and bulk cargoes, including grain without shifting boards in holds, bulk cargoes with a specific stowage factor of no less than 0.85 m³/t, dangerous goods, timber, and IC/ICC standard containers in holds and on hatch covers (Project No. 19610).
The vessel has been implicated in grain theft schemes involving shipments from the temporarily occupied territory (TOT) of Ukraine.
It is owned by the designated russian maritime shipping company MG-Flot LLC (ООО "МГ-Флот", formerly Transmorflot LLC – ООО "Трансморфлот"). In May 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on Transmorflot LLC and its vessels for transporting weapons for the russian federation.
MG-Flot LLC is linked to Astrakhan businessman Jamaldin Emirmagomedovich Pashayev, who built his business around the Commercial Port of Olya in the Astrakhan region. This location was proposed as a key logistics hub of the "North–South" International Transport Corridor, the creation and construction of which was overseen and controlled by former russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov. The primary purpose of the corridor was to facilitate trade with the designated Islamic Republic of Iran, enabling the import and export of goods via the "North–South" route.

The vessel can carry any type of lumber, logs, bulk grain, Class A and Class C cargo, and general cargo, except for cargo classified under the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code.
Since December 2023, the vessel has been operating on the St. Petersburg– Kaliningrad route, transporting goods prohibited for rail transit by Lithuania. In June 2024, the vessel made its first call at the closed port of Sevastopol (temporarily occupied territory – TOT of Crimea, Ukraine) with its Automatic Identification System (AIS) disabled, and also called at the port of Feodosiya (TOT of Crimea, Ukraine). In October and December 2024, the vessel was involved in transporting wheat from the temporarily occupied port of Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region (Ukraine). In January 2025, the vessel was present in Sevastopol Bay and Komyshova Bay with AIS disabled.
The vessel is affiliated with the sanctioned russian company OJSC Northern Shipping Company (ОАО "Северное морское пароходство", TIN 2901008432), which provides services under state defence contracts for the transportation of goods on behalf of the russian ministry of defence. Since 2014, the company has been an active participant in a major logistics chain for the development of infrastructure in the Arctic under contracts with the russian ministry of defence. OJSC Northern Shipping Company also conducts maritime cargo transportation under contract for the sanctioned State Grain Operator State Unitary Enterprise (ГУП "Государственный зерновой оператор", TIN 9001011019), registered in the TOT of Zaporizhzhia region, Melitopol.
In May 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on OJSC Northern Shipping Company and 27 of its vessels, including the vessel IMO 8904379, due to their involvement in the military logistics sector of the russian federation, transporting tanks and other military equipment for the russian armed forces.

Since 2014, the company has become an active participant in a large logistics chain for the construction of infrastructure in the Arctic commissioned by the russian ministry of defense. OJSC Northern Shipping Company carries out sea transportation of goods on a contractual basis for the sanctioned State Grain Operator (TIN 9001011019), registered in the TOT of Zaporizhzhya region, Melitopol.

On June 25, 2025, the vessel sailed to Komyshovaya Bay (Sevastopol port).

The vessel is involved in the theft of Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine (Sevastopol) and its export to third countries, in particular to Libya.
The vessel is owned and operated by the sanctioned russian shipping company OJSC "Northern shipping company", which is affiliated with the russian ministry of defence, in particular, it provides services under state defence contracts for the transportation of goods in the interests of the russian ministry of defence. OJSC "Northern shipping company" is one of the largest shipping companies in north-west russia, engaged in shipping worldwide, including along the Northern Sea Route. The company's fleet consists of multipurpose dry bulk carriers that transport all types of cargo, including radioactive and hazardous cargo. It comprises 30 vessels for various purposes: 18 vessels of the transport fleet, 7 of the dredging fleet and 5 of the auxiliary fleet. The company carries out sea liner, tram, multimodal transport, cargo delivery to unequipped shores, towing of various objects, technical management (repair, supply, shipping and warehousing services), provides crew training, corrects nautical charts, and provides mixed (river-sea) navigation vessels with inland waterway charts.

On May 5, 2026, the vessel once again entered Sevastopol Bay; on May 9, 2026, it was unmoored from berth 20 in Dokovaya Bay and departed Sevastopol Bay loaded with sheet and coil steel.

The vessel has been implicated in the export of grain from Port Sevastopol (TOT of Crimea, Ukraine) to Venezuela with its Automatic Identification System (AIS) disabled. Since 20 May 2024, it has remained in the anchorage area of Port Puerto Cabello with AIS enabled but was likely denied docking due to its inclusion in the European Union’s 14th sanctions package.
The vessel is owned by the designated russian transport company TK Northern Project LLC (ООО "ТК Северный проект"), which specialises in maritime freight transport via the Northern Sea Route, provides year-round cargo delivery to ports in the Far North and along the Arctic coast, facilitates cargo flows to Europe and Asia, and operates an unrestricted-navigation dry cargo fleet with a deadweight capacity of 7,000–12,000 tons. The company transports general, groupage, mixed, and oversized cargoes, special machinery, equipment, and containerised goods, and holds a licence for the carriage of dangerous goods of all categories.
In May 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on TK Northern Project LLC and 15 of its vessels, including vessel IMO 9079169, for transporting weapons to the russian federation on behalf of the company.
In June 2024, the European Union imposed sanctions on vessel IMO 9079169 for its role in grain theft schemes involving Ukrainian grain.
On 17 October 2024, Switzerland imposed sanctions on the vessel for promoting or supporting actions or policies that undermine or threaten the economic existence or food security of Ukraine (including the transportation of stolen Ukrainian grain), or that harm the preservation of Ukraine’s cultural heritage (including the transportation of stolen Ukrainian cultural property).
