The vessel is part of the seismic survey fleet of the designated russian company JSC Sevmorneftegeofizika (АО "Севморнефтегеофизика"), the largest offshore geophysical company in russia, specialising in 2D/3D offshore seismic surveys, digital processing, and integrated interpretation of geological, geophysical, and seismic data. It is part of the designated state-owned multidisciplinary geological holding JSC Rosgeologia (АО "Росгеология"). In russia, JSC Rosgeologia and its subsidiaries provide a range of geophysical services for the prospecting and exploration of oil and gas fields and are controlled by the russian government.
In February 2024, the United States imposed sanctions on the vessel, which is ultimately managed by JSC Rosgeologia and used for geophysical surveys and offshore exploration drilling in russia, as well as in international projects on behalf of the russian government.
