Yuzhmorgeologiya

The vessel is designed to carry out comprehensive geological and geophysical research for the purpose of prospecting and exploration of solid minerals in the world oceans; comprehensive geological survey of economic zones and testing with a set analysis of bottom material; environmental monitoring; hydrophysical and hydrobiological research; search and photographic and television survey of sunken objects; testing of new technical means for the study and development of mineral resources of the world oceans.
In February 2024, USA imposed sanctions on a vessel operated by the sanctioned russian state-owned multidisciplinary geological holding Rosgeologia JSC through its sanctioned subsidiary Yuzhmorgeologia JSC. Rosgeologia and its subsidiaries provide a range of geophysical services in the search for and exploration of oil and gas fields in russia, and are controlled by the russian government. Rosgeologiya and its subsidiaries carry out hydrocarbon and solid mineral exploration operations in more than ten countries.
