A multi-figure composition with a low horizon line. People are standing on the parapet in front of the eternal flame. In the center, against the background of a column, a young man with a bouquet of tulips is bowing; two men - veterans with orders - are standing between them, a young blonde woman in a light pink dress. In front of them is a little girl in a white dress and red tights. Behind the woman on the right is the head of a third man. To the left, against the background of a light sky, is a group of three people standing in a ¾ turn to the right: an elderly woman in a black headscarf, a black long skirt and a maroon blouse; a young man in dark gray clothes and a teenage girl in a light brown sundress and a greenish-gray blouse. The girl is holding a bouquet of tulips. Two tulips are at her feet. In the right part of the composition, near the edge, is an elderly man in a dark brown suit, leaning on a stick. A ¾ turn to the left, part of the figure is cropped. Between them and the middle group, on a smaller scale, there is a crowd of people behind the parapet. The figure of a girl in a light red dress stands out. On the back: Top left on the canvas: "Memory" h/m 162 x 125 by I. Shatsky. Bottom right: "The Great Patriotic War". In the lower left corner of the stretcher GPKG Zh-13 KP-16.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
