Description:
Three-figure composition. Against the background of the spreading crown of a snow-covered thick-trunked tree (the image is partial, the top is cut off by the edge of the canvas), a close-up of a frontal generational image of standing people: on the left is a woman wrapped in a white headscarf, wearing a dark blue coat with a rifle behind her shoulders, on the right is an elderly mustached man wearing a black papa, a gray overcoat with red buttonholes on the collar, and a leather belt with a hanging holster around his waist. Behind them, at a ¾ turn to the right, is a man wearing an earflap and a dark gray coat, carrying a rifle with a bayonet. To the right, in the background, there are snowdrifts, black and gray thin-trunked trees partially depicted.
On the reverse: in the lower left corner is a sticker: passport of the State Historical Archives, inv.no. zh-1196, reg.no. 371; in the lower right corner are two stickers: passport of the State Historical Archives, inv.no. 15492, reg. Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
