Two-figure composition. On the right, an old man sits by the window with the windows taped over in a crisscross pattern. He is dressed in a dark body jacket and pants tucked into his boots. His face is elongated and yellowish. The nose is straight, the eyes are large and sunken. The eyelids are drooping. The shovel-shaped chin is covered with gray stubble. To his left, on the bench, there is a hat with earflaps and a white triangle of a leaf. On the left side of the canvas, on a stool, in profile to the right, is an old woman in a black blouse, blue skirt, and black boots. She has a dark scarf on her head. Her hands are in her lap. Her legs are tightly clenched. The face is thin and yellow. The lips are bloodless and compressed. The eyes are closed. Above his head is a framed picture of a reproduction of Vasnetsov's Three Heroes, covered with a white towel with long, patterned ends hanging down. The wooden floor is yellow-brown. The brown window has a light green curtain shifted to the left. On the blue window sill is a black and green flower pot with a flower with large green leaves.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
