Description:
Winter landscape. To the left of the center is an old snow-covered house, behind which is a tall tree crown, and in the distance is a forest. The sky to the left and deep to the right is dark gray with yellowish gaps.
Below, in red paint, is the author's signature: I. Hopkalo. The reverse side is covered with plywood with the author's inscription: "Hopkalo Ivan Oleksiyovych 1894 "In the yard" Oil on canvas 58.5 x 45.5 cm Kherson"; on the right: "The house is 150 years old, near Poltava". General soiling, slight warping of the canvas in the lower left corner. Below - cracks in the paint headlight. The work was wrapped by the author with plywood. On 09.11.2017, the work was unwrapped, the edges were cut, and the base was glued to paper. Fine crumbling of the paint layer.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
