Description:
The complex multi-figure composition is divided into three horizontal parts: the middle part at the bottom depicts the scene of the descent into hell: Christ wearing a golden mandolin in front of the rows of the righteous. The devil is depicted as an open red mouth. Above them is the image of the ascension. Christ wearing a golden mandolin, a soldier sleeping on the left, and the archangel Gabriel on the right. Above, Christ is surrounded by angels, the righteous, sitting on the clouds. The image of the Mother of God is located: 1) Our Lady of All Sorrowful Joys; 2) The Praise of the Forefathers. In the lower part: 1) The Intercessor of the Sinners; 2) Odigitria of Smolensk; 3) Our Lady of Fedorovsk. In the margins are images of six saints. The icon is painted on a golden background. On the back is a label with typewritten text / Leningrad. RFO V - 8011 and chemical ink 253/80. 2) Museum No. 2809 and Miar ink - crossed out. On the left, in chemical pencil No. 70 - No. 71. In the middle of 70. On the lower keyhole b/w red 12/6 c. / 79 from 21.XII - 79. In the lower part of the icon - 2 pcs. box - 1 bracket of the sum of 5 in a circle. The keys are embedded, lumbar. In the lower corners, damage to the paint layer and soil to the hinge. Small scuffs throughout the image.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
