Description:
The sheet combines several images arranged in 2 horizontal rows. Top right: upper parts of men and women in exotic costumes and half-naked. Top left: a group of men in spacious light clothes with torches, tines on long poles, carrying a bearded man with a bow in his right hand on a stretcher (movement to the right). One of the attendants holds an umbrella on a long pole above his head. Between the upper compositions, a group of barefoot porters dressed in light-colored clothes draped over the figure on their hips carry a man in a covered stretcher. Above them, in a curly frame, is a portrait of a man wearing a light-colored top hat, a white shirt with a neck scarf, and a jacket. The figure is depicted at the waist, in profile on the left. Lower left: depicting a festive street procession with an elephant and a camel against the backdrop of city buildings with mosques. Composition on the left: in the center, on an elephant, an eastern ruler surrounded by a large retinue: riders with faces on horses and elephants. Above, to the right and left of the portrait in a curly frame, is the signature: "Travels in India in 1841-1843 by Prince Alexei Dmitrievich Saltykov." Yellowing of the sheet, stains of iron bacteria, leakage, and mounting marks in the corners.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
