Two-tiered composition. In the upper part, against the background of the domes of a three-domed church protruding on the field of the board, the Virgin Mary is depicted in full-length, standing on the clouds: in the center, against the background of a red mandolin, the Virgin wearing a red mafia, a blue tunic, and a white narrow cloth of the Intercession on her outstretched arms. To the right and left of her, the apostles (two on each side) and saints with the Gospel in their hands stand symmetrically in "slides", behind the Virgin are two archangels in white clothes, and above her in a medallion is an explanatory image of Jesus Christ. In the lower part of the composition, in the interior of the church, there are full-length figures: in the center, in front of the royal gate, on the altar, Archdeacon Roman in red clothes with an open scroll in his left hand; to his left, Patriarch Tarasiy in metropolitan clothes; at the edge of the altar, on a rectangular hill, King Leo the Wise; to Roman's right, Andrew the Fool with his disciples Epiphanius and Zosimus. The naked body of St. Andrew the Fool is covered with green garments, Epiphanius is wearing a red shirt, and a blue and green cloak is on top. The field of the icon is painted light ochre, the edges are red ochre. The halos of the saints, the altar wall, and the domes are covered with gold leaf. At the top of the field is an inscription in black: on the left - Intercession, on the right - PRE BTSI. General soiling of the icon. Everywhere small losses of the paint layer are scratched out. The veneers are end, cut in.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
