In the foreground, in front of two pillars holding the coffered ceiling of the outer room on the right, are 3 men: 2 in military uniforms, 1 in civilian clothes; to the left is a merchant's family: 2 men, a woman, and a child. A coffin is visible between the pillars, standing in the inner, more illuminated room.
Lower composition: the interior of the church with a crypt inside. The façade of the low round crypt has a rectangular 3-step entrance portal with male sculptures on each side supporting a heavy attic. In the center of the attic, between the currencies, is a cross on a pedestal. There are 4 strong wavy columns above the crypt. At the entrance to the crypt, along the walls, to the right and left, are groups of visitors. Between the compositions: "Inside the Tomb", below: "The Tomb of Emperor Napoleon the 1st in the Cathedral Church of the Invalid Home in Paris", even lower: "Entrance to the Crypt". Under the lower composition: "The tomb is made of Shohan porphyry".

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
