Vnukov is the head of the Crimean New Construction Archaeological Expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of the russian Academy of Sciences, which has been operating in the occupied territories of Ukraine since 2014, and which is held under the auspices and with the support of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science of the russian federation "Institute of Archaeology of the russian Academy of Sciences" (IA RAS). In order to conduct excavations and alienate cultural property, Vnukov annually during 2014-2023 sent requests to the Ministry of Culture of the russian Ffederation to obtain permits (open letters) to organise and conduct such events. Vnukov carried out excavations on the territory of the Ukrainian archaeological monuments "Belyaus Settlement", "Kulchuk Settlement", ‘"Kulchuk Necropolis" (Chornomorsk district, Crimea), on the territory of the "Kara-Tobe Settlement"(Saki, Crimea), and other sites of archaeological monuments of Ukraine in the occupied territory of the Crimean peninsula. Some of the archaeological sites where Vnukov carried out archaeological activities were fully or partially destroyed as part of the occupation authorities' further implementation of infrastructure construction projects.
