Description:
In the foreground, light gray with a reflection of red leaves and dark gray tree trunks, is a pond that narrows towards the center. In the background, on the right steep bank, overgrown with green grass, are several tall trees, the tops of which are cut off by the edge of the canvas, and low shoots. In the background, slightly to the right of the center, are three red-and-white and black cows. On the left gentle bank, a tall tree with a trunk forked at the base, behind it are two more trees. The tops are cut off by the edge of the canvas. In the center, near the end of the pond, is an old tree with bare, crooked branches. Behind the trees is a light yellowish-gray field with two haystacks on it, depicted on the left. Along the horizon line is a gray stripe. The sky is light gray. The canvas is sagging. There is a hole in several places, finely meshed craquelure. In the lower right corner, right below the center, are oval scree. The artwork is matted. General contamination of the canvas.
