In the foreground, two high walls of a gateway with rebar at the top are under construction. On the construction site, at the bottom left, there is a wooden house with an extension, near which a man in a red T-shirt and cap and a woman in a white blouse and a scarf are standing, holding papers. To the right is a truck and two men walking toward it; in the center are stairs with handrails, a construction site, and workers. Above the change house against the wall is a hanging cradle with workers. Behind the first lock is a bridge, cranes, and to the right is the upper part of a crane cut off by the edge of the painting. In the distance is the second lock under construction. The sky is gray with white and pink clouds.
