Description of the incident location
The Kil-Dere burial site is located on the left bank of the Chorna River, in the central part of the Inkerman Valley, 9.6 km southeast of Chersonesos. The burial site began to function at the turn of the first and second centuries AD and ceased to exist at the end of the fourth century. Illegal archaeological work was carried out in October 2020 - May 2021 by employees of the Department of Archaeological Heritage Preservation of the Institute of Archaeology of the russian Academy of Sciences. In total, 421 graves were completely excavated on an area of about 9,000 square meters, 28 of which were not damaged before. Among other things, a large collection of stone statues of the Late Scythian culture was recovered during the excavations.
