In 2023, he was drafted into the russian army, served at the Naval Academy in St. Petersburg and played for the russian Navy team.
Until 2024 he had a contract with the Central Sports Club of the russian Army (CSKA), subordinate to the russian Ministry of Defense.
CSKA on a permanent basis provides active assistance to the military and veterans of the so-called "SMO" by purchasing and delivering special equipment, FPV-drones, generators and humanitarian cargoes to the front, carries out military-patriotic education of children and youth, organizes and conducts sports-patriotic events and promotes international cooperation, in particular, within the framework of the World Military Games project.
On September 01, 2023, the CSKA club with Fedotov's participation held an action to support the occupants unit "88th Volunteer Brigade Espanola" of the russian armed forces, formed mainly from russian fans.
He was awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, First Class, for his victory at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
In April 2024, he signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL), earning $6.5 million over the course of the contract. Afterward, he suggested in a public statement that his paths with CSKA might cross again.
