L. Ponomaryov is the General Director and Chief Designer of an russian defense-industrial enterprise engaged in the development and manufacture of radio altimeters and radar homing seekers for weapon systems, including:
- A-079 radio altimeters for Kh-59M2/Kh-59M2A guided air-launched missiles;
- "UMN-Tochka-P-0.1" components for D-30SN Unified interspecies guided munitions (UMPBs);
- A-079-01 radio altimeters for 9M727 cruise missiles of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system;
- Battery units for UMPK-PD extended-range Universal gliding and correction modules.
These weapon systems are used by russia in its aggressive war against Ukraine, including for strikes against civilian targets, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.
In 2024, L. Ponomaryov publicly confirmed in an interview that the enterprise was supplying products to the russian armed forces and was engaged in improving the tactical and technical characteristics of weapon systems.
