Reasons
Systematically supports and justifies the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea by russia, putin's policy and the kremlin regime, spreading typical narratives of kremlin propaganda. He also supported the so-called "referendums in the liberated territories" and the mobilization announced by putin.
He is the author and host of the program "International Sawmill" on the russian federal TV channel "NTV", and the program "Friday with Tigran Keosayan" on the radio "Sputnik", in which he regularly covers the chronicles of political events and the war of russia against Ukraine in favor of the russian government. He also actively participates in broadcasts and political talk shows.
He is known for his aggressive anti-Ukrainian rhetoric. In particular, in his public statements he discredits the Ukrainian authorities, calls Ukraine a part of russia and openly supports the executions of civilians by members of the Wagner PMC.
Together with his wife, TV presenter and propagandist Margarita Simonyan, he raises funds for the needs of the russian Armed Forces.
He is the director of the film "Crimean Bridge. Made with Love", which was shot in the temporarily occupied Crimea with the assistance of Arkady Rotenberg (under sanctions by all countries of the sanctions coalition). The film's budget was 175 million rubles, and the costs of its marketing support were 125 million. The box office collection of 70 million rubles indicates the propaganda purpose of the film, not a commercial one.
In April 2024, he received the title of Honored Artist of the russian federation for "a great contribution to the development of domestic culture and art, many years of fruitful activity."
