Reasons
russian propagandist, media manager, and TV presenter.
Prior to the temporary occupation of Crimea, she served as editor-in-chief of the Krymsky Telegraf newspaper and hosted political talk shows on regional television channels.
In 2015, she headed the occupation administration-controlled SBI RC "Editorial Office of the Crimean Newspaper", becoming the head of the official publications Crimean Newspaper and Crimean Journal (the latter is also published in English).
After the start of the full-scale invasion, Volkonskaya's Krymskaya Gazeta, according to her, was "the first in russia" to place the "Z" symbol on its front page and began preparing special editions for participants in the "special military operation". In 2025, under her leadership, a propaganda book entitled "You Are Not Alone" was published about the "heroes" of the "special operation", glorifying the participants in the armed aggression and war crimes of the russian federation. Copies of the publication were deliberately sent, in particular, to library collections in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In her weekly column "Editor's Word", she systematically spreads anti-Ukrainian propaganda: spreads disinformation about alleged total censorship and persecution of the russian-speaking population in Ukraine, accuses Kyiv of "terrorism", discredits Ukraine's Western partners, and blames the Ukrainian government for the consequences of the war unleashed by the russian federation.
In the public sphere, he consistently justifies the occupation of Crimea, characterizing it as a "return to russia" and a "natural, logical historical process". In particular, she is the author of a pseudoscientific article entitled "Humanitarian Rights of Crimeans and the Double Standards of Western Policy", in which she attempts to legitimize the "referendum" as a supposedly legitimate act of self-determination and criticizes the international sanctions imposed against russia.
She actively uses international platforms to promote pro-kremlin narratives. In 2019, at an OSCE meeting in Warsaw, she publicly denied that Crimea belonged to Ukraine, accused the Ukrainian authorities of suppressing freedom of speech, and called on foreign media representatives to visit the temporarily occupied peninsula. As a member of russian delegations abroad, she also tried to distribute the English-language version of Krymsky Journal among Western diplomats and journalists, declaring her goal to be "breaking the information blockade of Crimea in the Western media".
She was a member of the public council initiated by putin for the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.
For her active participation in providing information support for russia's aggression against Ukraine in 2021, Volkonskaya was awarded the title of "honored Journalist of the russian federation".
