Long-time putin associate and owner of Volga Group, a private investment group specialising in investments in energy, transport and infrastructure assets. ‘Sibur' enters into agreements for the supply of styrene and diethylene glycol to the Kamianske Plant (which produces solid rocket fuel, solid rocket charges, rocket engines used in Grad, Smerch, and Uragan MLRS). The company supplies styrene and butyl acrylate to the Perm Powder Plant, which makes charges for multiple launch rocket systems, air defence systems, engine charges for air-to-air missiles, cruise missile launchers, and spherical powders for small arms.
Novatek supplies gas condensate for the production of jet fuel for Su-34 fighter-bombers that carried out indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas in Chernihiv, regular bombing of Kharkiv and Mariupol, which resulted in a significant number of civilian deaths in Ukraine.
Novatek supplies gas to the Ministry of Defence and russian defence enterprises: the Sverdlov plant (produces explosives and ammunition, including FAB-500 bombs), the Sevmash production association (builds submarines), and the Zababakhin All-russian Research Institute of Technical Physics (specialises in the production of nuclear munitions).
Novatek contributed to the mobilisation and sponsorship of volunteers fighting in Ukraine, including those employed by Saturn-I, a private security company established to protect the Novatek field, who received payments through the charity fund ‘Courage’ in the amount of RUB 300,000 in addition to their salaries from the russian Ministry of Defence. The Courage Foundation was registered in September 2022, and almost all donations in the first three months (over RUB 200 million) came from Novatek.
