As a public figure, he spreads kremlin propaganda narratives, systematically supports russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea, putin's policies, and the kremlin regime.
In April 2022, he recorded a video message in which he expressed support for the so-called SMO and declared his readiness to "support the spirit of the fighters" in the "frontline brigades."
He subsequently made numerous appearances before wounded russian military personnel who had participated in the full-scale aggression against Ukraine, expressing his support for them, thanking them "for everything they do," and wishing them "success in accomplishing all their tasks."
In January 2023, speaking on the leading russian New Year's television show "Goluboy ogonyok" on the VGTRK channel, he supported russia's aggression against Ukraine, stating in particular: "Like it or not, russia is expanding".
In 2024 and 2025, he also participated in the "Goluboy ogonyok" show, where military personnel of the russian armed forces who are participating or have participated in the war against Ukraine were presented as invited guests. During the concert, these military personnel were honored by the hosts and participants, given the opportunity to express themselves with "military-patriotic" speeches and convey greetings to their "colleagues" on the front lines.
He has visited the temporarily occupied Crimea on numerous occasions.
In comments to the russian media, Petrosyan's ex-wife, Elena Stepanenko, stated that she and her husband "consider Crimea to be russian".
