FILIMONOV Andrey Evgeniovich

A direct participant in russia’s aggression against Ukraine as a member of the Wagner Group, and an active participant in russia’s information war against Ukraine as a propagandist and war correspondent.
He participated in the war against Ukraine from the summer of 2022 to May 2023 as a volunteer in the Wagner Group’s radio battalion under the pseudonym "Papyrus".
In 2025, he published an autobiographical book titled "To the Living and the Dead", in which he described his time at war. Comments posted by readers on russian social media note that "the stories describe the heroic deeds of convicts" and "clearly show that russia’s strength lies in its people, who are always ready to move forward without looking back."
On the "Papyrus" Telegram channel, Filimonov glorifies russian military personnel, justifies the occupation of Ukrainian territories, approves of the killing of Ukrainians, calling them "Nazis," calls for intensifying strikes on Ukrainian territory, particularly on infrastructure facilities, actively disseminates information about fundraising efforts to support the russian armed forces, and reports on "humanitarian aid" delivered to combat units.
For his participation in the war against Ukraine, he was awarded the Order "For Merit to the fatherland," 1st class with swords.
