KHARCHENKO Aleksandr Sergeevich

He is an active participant in russia’s information war against Ukraine, serving as a propagandist and war correspondent for the russian state-run media outlet RIA Novosti.
In his publications, he spreads disinformation and propaganda, including messages about "russian soldiers as liberators" and the russian federation’s alleged concern for the civilian population; he discredits Ukrainian military personnel and disseminates materials aimed at creating a distorted view of the course of russia’s war against Ukraine.
He is the author of the video "The Road to Krasnoarmeysk" which depicts the capture and interrogation of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
He justifies the war crimes of the aggressor state’s army, disseminates information about fundraising for the needs of russian military units, spreads disinformation aimed at discrediting Ukraine and its top political leadership, and reposts pro-kremlin narratives through his Telegram channel "Witnesses of Bayraktar."
He is also among the speakers for the educational project "School for young military correspondents", which is being implemented with the support of the Liberal democratic party of russia and the public organization "Union of veterans of the SMO".
He has been awarded state and departmental honors for his propaganda activities, the dissemination of pro-kremlin narratives, and his support for russia’s aggression against Ukraine. In particular, in March 2023, he was awarded the russian Union of journalists’ "Golden Pen" prize for "courage in the line of duty" as a war correspondent covering "SMO" and in September 2023, he received an honorary certificate from the president of the russian federation for "merits in the development of the media and conscientious work".
In January 2024, he received the russian federation government’s media award for covering "SMO" in state media, and, by order of the chairman of the investigative committee of the russian federation, Alexander Bastrykin, was awarded the "For high civic consciousness" medal as a war correspondent actively covering "SMO".
He regularly and illegally visits the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine to prepare materials aimed at justifying the russian federation’s aggression against Ukraine, glorifying the russian armed forces, and promoting the ideology of the current russian government.
