Position
russian journalist and war correspondent
Reasons
A russian journalist, political analyst, TV presenter and documentary filmmaker who gained fame for her work at Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, where she hosted the "Friedrich" Show and "Evening Sofa".
Since the beginning of the war in eastern Ukraine, she has been actively covering the events from a pro-kremlin perspective. As a war correspondent, she frequently visited the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where she talked to local residents, covering their stories through the prism of russian propaganda.
After russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Friedrichson began to actively cover the events of the so-called "SMO", preparing reports from Mariupol, in particular from the Azovstal area. In March 2022, Friedrichson stated that Azov representatives in Mariupol allegedly shot a civilian in his yard as soon as he came out of the basement.
In her speeches, Friedrichson has repeatedly stated that the war in Ukraine is a "civil war" provoked by Kyiv with Western support. She insisted that russia should not have been drawn into the "conflict" and that the West could have avoided it if it had been more pragmatic. She has consistently emphasized that the "confrontation in Ukraine" is an internal conflict between Kyiv and the residents of the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" and claims that russia started the so-called "SMO" because it was left with no choice, and one of its goals is to return historical lands and protect people in Ukraine.
In 2023, she made the documentary Bakhmut, dedicated to the storming of the city and the participation of the Wagner PMC in these events.
In her materials, Friedrichson also broadcasts narratives that discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, in 2025, she accused the Ukrainian military of deliberately attacking a boarding school in Suzha (Kursk region), claiming that the Armed Forces attacked civilians to blame russia, as she said happened in Bucha.
On her Telegram channel, Friedrichson often posts fundraisers to support members of the so-called "SMO".
