Description:
Horizontal composition. On a black background in the center is a bust image of a young woman in left profile, wearing a white headscarf, which is blowing in the wind. The eye is directed to the left and deep into the composition to a rider in military uniform riding away from her. The work is executed in ochre, white and black.
The image on the right is in black: "Popov N.T. 62". Under the image on the left in graphite pencil: "Kateryna" (based on Taras Shevchenko's "Kobzar"), on the right is the author's signature and the year 1962.
On the verso, lower right, in graphite pencil: "Popov M.T. Catherine. Reg. 25196 inv. 11766".
Light yellowing of the sheet, tears along the upper right and left edges. Traces of printing ink on the white field.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
