Description:
Composition with a high horizon line. Central Asian motif. Hilly terrain. In the foreground, in the center, in a circle, there are a bunch of children playing (the figures are presented in different rotations and movements). They are dressed in T-shirts, pants, and shorts. To the right, on the ground, are a girl and a boy, a dog, a briefcase, and a soccer ball. To the left, boys are watching the game: the first one is in a 3/4 turn figure with his arms raised upwards, the other three are in profile. In the background, to the right, a boy standing on a donkey, in a saddle, holding a reins, and a small donkey next to him. To the left are grazing rams, two camels, and a man of the same height as the donkey in the middle. In the distance, at the horizon, in the middle is a gentle mountain, at the foot to the right are the outlines of low buildings. The sky is yellow-gray. Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
