Description:
Composition with a high horizon line. A racetrack. In the center of the painting are five jockeys on horses (four of brown color, one of gray) moving in a training circle. The riders are wearing jockeys and costumes of pink, blue, purple, and green colors. In the foreground, to the left of the center, is a woven image of a rider turned to the right, in profile, dressed in a blue and blue suit. His right hand is holding the horse's bridle, the left hand is on the withers. Behind the training circle, at the top left are three two-wheeled carts drawn by light-colored horses (movement to the right), to the right are a scoreboard and a group of riders riding (movement to the left). In the horizon line there are stables and buildings, behind them is a hilly area. On the canvas at the bottom right, in blue paint: "Otiev V.O. 1978". On the back, in black paint: "Physical Culture and Sports". "Otiev V.O. "Horseman" 115.5 x 120 cm. Bottom left on the stretcher: inv. no. 6869 crossed out; above in graphite pencil - 115.5 x 120 cm. In the lower part, along the entire length of the canvas, a horizontal scratch; on the left - scuffs, crumbling paint layer.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
