Description:
In the center of the composition, standing side by side on the left are Polish and Soviet soldiers on the right. The image is frontal, generational. The Pole is wearing a cap with a coat of arms, and the Soviet soldier has a cap with a star. Both are wearing belted overcoats. The Polish soldier has a rifle in his right hand, which is lowered, and his left hand is on a field bag slung over his shoulder. The Soviet soldier's right hand is on the shoulder of his comrade-in-arms, his left hand is lowered, and he is carrying a flask. The background is a landscape with a high horizon line: the earth, a narrow strip of cloudy sky; to the right of the center on the horizon line are two buildings and a leaning pillar. The color is red and brown. At the bottom left is the author's signature and date in red paint: "V. Pavlotskyi 81". On the back - On the stretcher at the top in red "1412 GOSSR", on the right in black GOSSR and crossed out number 8995. On the canvas at the top left: "Pavlotskyi V.Y. 1925 'Fighting Friends' 1981, size 120 x 100 cm, Ashgabat", on the right: "Diptych "Brothers" l.g.". General soiling of the canvas, light warping, some minor scuffs.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
