Description:
Winter landscape in the daytime. From the lower right corner deep into the composition is the embankment parapet, to the right of which is a slope with two buildings and a chimney. To the left in the foreground is a row of black trees. In the background, in the left half of the sheet, there is an obelisk in front of which is a group of walking children and a woman (movement from right to left).Right In the background, along the embankment, with their backs to the viewer, are the silhouettes of two figures, which are moving away. To the left of the obelisk are densely growing trees and two pillars with lanterns. On the low horizon line to the right, across the bay, are silhouettes of tower cranes. Below the image in graphite pencil: "Odesa. Taras Shevchenko Park. Monument to an unknown sailor. Color linocut". On the right - the author's signature. Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
