Description:
In the center of the green circle is the Mother of God in a red mafia with the infant Jesus Christ on her left arm, supporting with her right hand the "mountain unchained" with the image of the "King of Glory" Savior. The circle is inscribed in a blue rectangle with sharp corners and concave sides depicting angels and Seraphim. The blue rectangle, in turn, is enclosed in a similar red rectangle depicting the symbols of the evangelists-an angel, an eagle, a lion, and a calf. The composition concludes in a circle with curly edges, where angels with different attributes are depicted in eight colored sectors. At the corners of the icon are four compositions on the themes of the prophecies about the Mother of God: 1) Moses' vision of the burning bush; 2) the vision of the forefather Isaiah; 3) the vision of Ezekiel; 4) the vision of Jacob. Numerous inscriptions on the sides of the image explain the complex content. In the margins are images of the Holy Great Martyrs. The borders and background are gold. The keys are cut into the counter with a figured profile, the canvas was restored.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
