Description:
There are 2 compositions on the sheet. Above is a multi-figure composition. In the foreground, in the left part of the image: on a snowy hill - a group of people near a wooden coffin. To the right, a soldier with a prosthesis is sitting on the stones, leaning on a stick, to the left of him are 3 men, a priest is standing in the center of the group, to the left, in front of the coffin, a man is praying, and a woman is kneeling with her hands over her face. At her knees are a small child and two older boys. Behind them is a man with an icon. In the background, among the graves and crosses, there are male figures, on the right, carrying a coffin. Under the image: "Cemetery on the heights of the northern side of Sevastopol".
Below are three bust portraits of men, slightly turned to the left. On the right is a young officer with dark hair in a uniform with epaulets. In the center is a full-length elderly officer in a uniform with epaulettes. He has sparse hair, sideburns, and a mustache. On the left is a young officer with blond hair and bright eyes, wearing a uniform with epaulets. Under the portraits (from right to left): "His Imperial Majesty's Adjutant, Colonel Voeykov....August, 1855, Colonel Y.K. Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
