The composition combines several independent pictorial motifs with differently shaped frames. On the right (framed in the form of a curly arch): a corner of a narrow alley with figures of city residents on the pavement near the walls of three-story buildings (right and left). In the 2-arched partition with pediments is a carriage with a pair of horses. Behind the partition, between the houses, is a light building with a high stepped attic. Composition on the left (in the same frame): interior of a Lutheran church with an altar in the background. Composition at the bottom center: in the foreground is a high tiled roof with three male figures on it, and a river embankment runs horizontally from the roof to the left. To the left is an arched passage to a bridge over the river, decorated with flags, and to the right of the water is a sailing vessel. On the opposite bank are urban buildings. The composition above, in the circle: a corner of a courtyard with two four-story buildings; in front of the buildings is a large crowd with flags and torches. Composition below the circle: on the left - the facade of the three-story town hall, decorated with flags on the sides of the pediment and above the portal; on the right - part of a four-story house with a tiled roof. There is a ribbon over all the images: "The stay of H.I.H. the Sovereign, the heir to the throne, Tsarevich Vel. Prince Nicholas Alexandrovich in Riga in 1860".

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
