Description:
Portrait. In the center of the vertical composition is the image of a man standing in 3/4 turn to the left, his head is in full face. A stern face, brown eyes, furrowed black eyebrows, straight long nose, compressed lips, dark long mustache with lowered ends. Pose: his right hand is on his belt, his left hand is holding a saber hilt, which is lowered along his body. He is dressed in a long dark red cloak, intercepted by a wide blue and pink belt, behind which are a musket on the left and a mace on the right, a dark brown cloak with a dalia, a hat covered with brown fur, decorated with long white feathers at the top, and red boots on his feet. Not painted: left hand, saber hilt, left leg, right lower part of the clothes, background. Conservation and restoration activities in the museum: 21-28.11.2019: removal of surface contaminants, repair of breaks, jointing, strengthening of the painted layer, local supply of restoration primer, tinting, varnishing by artists-restorers of the NRDCU (Kyiv).

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
