Description:
Two compositions. On the top is a portrait: a full-length, frontal image of an elderly man. The man has a high forehead, wavy hair combed back, sideburns and a mustache, and wears glasses. He is wearing a dark suit and vest unbuttoned at the chest, a white shirt with a high collar, and a white neck scarf. Under the portrait: "Pyotr Ivanovich Sevastyanov". Below is the interior of a religious building with images of archangels and the Mother of God on the walls. In the foreground on the right are a lady in a puffy skirt and fur-trimmed half-coat and an officer, followed by peasants; in the center are a lady in a puffy light dress and a boy (to her right), and on the left, in front of a long table covered with a cloth to the floor, are two priests. To the left is a man leaning against the table with his hand on the corner of it. Behind the table, on the left wall, there is a window, a sculpture in a niche, and an open door to the neighboring room on the right. Below the image: "Public visit to the hall of the Holy Synod, where the .... monasteries are now located. February 1859".

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
