Description:
Multi-figure composition. The image is flattened. In the foreground are seven Kazakhs. To the left is a boy with a whip in his left hand. The figure is depicted with his back to the viewer, his head is turned ¾ to the right. He is dressed in light brown clothes and wears a red skullcap. Behind him is a young man in a purple robe and a small cap with a feather. Then there are two seated men, shown from the back. The young man on the left is dressed in green, and the young man on the right is dressed in light brown, wearing a small round cap with a blue bottom. In the centre of the composition is a standing man. The figure is in full face, with his head tilted and slightly turned to the left. He wears a red vest with a belt at the waist, a light brown shirt and trousers. His right arm is bent at the elbow at chest level, his hand is raised and turned outwards. His left arm is bent at the elbow at waist level, with his thumb behind his belt. To the left is a Kazakh with a moustache, holding a whip with both hands. In front of him is a young man in blue clothes. A dog lies at his feet. The background is a conventionally interpreted green land with yellow hills and small figures of women sitting near yurts (centre) and galloping horses (top, moving to the right). In the lower left corner of the canvas is the author's inscription in dark ocher: "Aitbayev S.A. 'Young Kazakhs' 67". There are two labels on the upper stretcher bar: "Directorate of Exhibitions of the Eastern USSR" with inv. no. 102, in black paint on the left stretcher bar: "DV USSR", on the upper one: 123х186. In graphite pencil on the right stretcher bar: "Alma-Ata".

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
