Description:
In the centre above the clouds is an explanatory image of Christ the Almighty. Below it, in divergent rays, are three crowns. To the right and left of the clouds are two belted images of trumpeting angels. Below, diagonally from left to right, are three horsemen in red and orange clothes, striking dragons with spears. Above them are captions in a foreign language and illegible letters from left to right. To the right are gates and city buildings, and to the left is a part of a tree. To the right, at the rider's feet, is a man pierced with a spear. To his left is a quiver with arrows. To the right is a bow and a helmet. Below are skull bones. Under the image: 1841 This image was painted by Ilya Kotlyarov in the city of Sevastopol in the month of Genvara on the 23rd. 03.07. - 10.07.2012 - restoration by specialists of the National Research Centre of Ukraine (Kyiv) in the museum. Strengthening of the paint layer and soil, gluing of the hanging, removal of surface contamination. Application of restoration primer. Tinting. Varnishing.

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
