Description:
A flat, snow-covered area with small bare trees, with withered grass peeking out from under the snow. In the foreground in the center is a profile image on the right of a brown-red hound with white fur on its muzzle. A black collar with white inserts on a yellow metal clasp is worn around its neck. In front of the dog on the right side, with its hind legs facing the viewer, lies a reddish-gray hare with its muzzle thrown back. The sky is yellowish-blue with a lilac-gray stripe near the horizon and dark gray clouds on the left. At the bottom left is the author's signature in gray paint: “N. Sverchkov” (“Н.Сверчков”). On the back - at the bottom left on the stretcher is the label KTM RI - an exhibition of works by Russian artists of the 2nd half of the 12th and early 20th centuries 1988. “Dog and Hare” m 63x89 in. 2296 from the collection of Yura G.P. Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
