Description:
Three-figure composition. A gray-bearded old man is standing in the center, resting his foot on the stones. Head in profile. The figure (shown from the back) is slightly inclined to the left. Dressed in a long chiton. The old man's right hand grips the handle of a dagger. On the left is the head of a naked young man lying on a stone with his hands tied. The upper left part of the canvas is occupied by the figure of an angel in evolving clothes. The torso is tilted to the right. One hand is stretched forward to the old man. The second points to the heavens. In the lower part of the composition, at the foot of the stones, there are metal vessels, and dagger scabbards are nearby. The background is sprawling trees. The stretcher is closed; the preservation is satisfactory. "Scientific restoration done in 1977-81 at the Rostov Special Scientific and Restoration Production Workshop" ("Наукова реставрація 1977-81 у Ростовський СНРВМ").

Description of the incident location
It was opened on May 27, 1978, in the former City Hall building, an architectural monument of the early 20th century. As of 2022 (before the robbery), the museum's collection included more than 13 thousand works of art and was one of the most interesting museum collections in Ukraine. It includes works of Ukrainian and foreign painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. From October 31 to November 4, 2022, the Kherson Art Museum was looted by the russian occupiers, and more than 10,000 of its most valuable exhibits were stolen. The cargo was sent to Crimea, and the works (all or part of them) ended up in the Simferopol Central Museum of Tavrida. It is unknown whether everything is still there.
