Description of the incident location
The Roman-era cemetery Frontove 3 is located in the Nakhimovsky district of Sevastopol, 1 km west of the modern village of Frontove (formerly Biyuk-Otarkoy). The cemetery is located in the northeastern sector of the barbarian district of Chersonesos of Roman times, which occupied part of the Inkerman Valley, the northern shore of Sevastopol Bay, and most of the Belbek River valley.
In 2018, illegal archaeological work was carried out by the second Sevastopol detachment of the Crimean New Construction Expedition of the Institute of Archeology of the russian Academy of Sciences. The cemetery was excavated entirely by кussian archaeologists. It included 332 burial complexes, mostly of Roman and Bronze Age date - four graves and five pits without distinct finds, in addition, finds of medieval and later periods were removed from the cultural layer. In total, 4678 finds of metal, ceramics, glass, and bone, including dishes, jewelry, a belt headset, weapons, tools, and religious objects, were assigned to the Front 3 cemetery.
