Description of the incident location
The Suvlu-Kai cemetery of the first half of the fifth century AD is located on a steep plateau in the eastern part of the 7th district of Bakhchisarai. The necropolis appeared in the late second and early third centuries. From 2009 to 2013, the necropolis was studied by a joint expedition of the Crimean branch of the IA of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Bakhchysarai Historical and Cultural Reserve, and in 2015 the work was illegally continued by the Institute of Archeology of Crimea of the russian Academy of Sciences. The work is carried out under the supervision of V.V. Masyakin and A.A. Voloshynov.
In 2023, the exhibition "Shelter of the Ancient Warrior" opened in the Khan's Palace in Bakhchisarai. Visitors are shown artifacts from the crypts of the fourth century - the first half of the fifth century, stolen during the excavations of the Suvlu-Kai burial ground. Among them are fragments of glassware and ceramic products, including amphorae, jugs, mugs, and vessels. There are also metal objects: knives, daggers, swords, buckles, wedding rings, and funerary equipment.
